The hornbill couple is my favorite thing to see at the Bronx Zoo; I've seen them every year since 1988, when I took [info]dj_rose_red to the zoo for her 4th birthday. One of the pair was near enough to give me a good picture.

Nice! The king vultures are a favorite of mine.

Are they the same hornbills from 20 years ago (I mean the same individuals)? I took care of one of those this summer; I liked him until he whonked me on the side of the head in a sneak attack. Aw, I still like him, but I don't trust him. ;)

I think they are the same ones. Do they not live that long?

When we first went, they used to be right next to each other all the time. Like humans, I guess, after so many years, they don't need to be one on top of the other constantly anymore.

20 years seems a little long. The chances are good that one or the other would have developed health problems in that time. But it's certainly possible that they're the same ones, I was just curious.

I am really enjoying your LJ.

You can tell this is a NYC zoo because the toucan is not married to the other toucan. Very low moral standards in NYC.

Aw, thank you! And you caught what made the sign interesting to me!
